Ducks Unlimited Great Lakes Regional

By Staff
Page 50 of the November 2009 issue

Ducks Unlimited is expanding its conservation efforts, moving toward a Continental Habitat Conservation Program approach to better protect nesting grounds and migration routes as well as preserve our hunting heritage. According to DU Regional Director Aaron Dynes, the program is working, and fully 85% of every dollar donated goes to conservation.

Ohio’s Hill ’n Dale Club in Medina was the site of the 2009 DU Great Lakes Regional hosted July 10-12 to help raise funds for the conservation effort while providing shooters with some fun competition. This multi-day shoot was run with the help of the Ohio Sporting Clays Association. The event offered a balance of registered and non-registered sporting clays events, along with various side games and an introduction to Argentina Clays, a one-man flurry game of 25 targets launched on a 5-Stand layout in 2 1/2 minutes. Gary Pennington, secretary of the OSCA, reported 200 entries in both the preliminary and main events, up slightly from last year.
