What do the US gold medal softball team and sporting clays shooting have in common? It just could be Navy Seals. Olympic softball head coach Mike Candrea felt he had the talent in 2004 but wanted to crush and dominate the competition. Jim Bauman, sports psychologist with the Olympic committee, came up with the idea of using Navy Seals training when he realized that the Olympic training center in Chula Vista, California, is close to Coronado, California, where the Seals train. Bauman had taken Olympic bobsled teams, skiers, and rowing groups to Seals training facilities, but never baseball or softball teams.
